New Year’s Day

I made three New Year’s Resolutions this year. The first one is to find a new hobby. I wanted to find one that I wouldn’t necessarily feel the need to share with anyone. Something I can do for myself. I’ve decided to take up chess. I’m making it official, and taking lessons. I’ve already had one last week, and in an hour and a half, I pretty much learned the basics. I’ve been watching chess videos on YouTube this week late into the night, and I’m really loving it. My kind of game.

My second resolution is to exercise. Duh, everybody does that, but I need it. I can’t get away with, oh yeah, I get exercise at work, any longer. Time to hit the gym.

And the third, which will be the most difficult, will be to not grumble when my wife asks me to do things. I’m gonna have to do it anyway, so why bitch about it?

From my heart to yours,

Clint Curtis. Bartender.

i do get enough exercise at work, check! No wife- Gf would be nice- will have to work on that- as far as a hobby I have always been into models of one form to another- have started an HO train set to be able to spend time with the boys on it, so kind of opposite, but check 🙂

Longtime lurker here… If anybody is looking for a unique new hobby/exercise, there is a fencing club opening up east of the river here in Des Moines. Yeah, fencing, like Olympic sport fencing. (Not like dress-up-and-pretend-you’re-Frodo sword fighting.) It’s surprisingly inexpensive. If anyone is curious, they’re called Red Door Fencing and they’re doing some open houses next weekend.
