I’m behind the bar, pouring shots for a couple buddies. I walk away, and as I do, I hear one of them start out a toast with, we always get through the hard times… And then I went out of range from hearing the rest.
I wonder how he finished the toast? It started out really good. We all have bad times, and somehow, we get through them, don’t we?
I go up to the toaster, and ask him, how did you finish the toast? He looks at me, then says, I can’t remember. Nice. Profound words from drunk people. The sound guy is standing to my left, I say, what would go next? We try a few things, and come up with, as long as we’re not doing hard time. Then I thought, what makes hard time so difficult? Well, how about, raise your shot and say,
We always get through the hard times
As long as we’re not doing hard time
And getting it hard in the behind.
From my heart to yours,
