I’m driving my seven-year-old son home from school, he’s telling me how one hockey team in the Olympics beat the other. And he’s really getting into it. It went to five overtimes, Dad! I say, wow.
My son loves sports. I ask him, why do you like watching sports? He starts saying, football first, then basketball… No, no, no, I say. WHY do you like watching sports?
He thinks for under a second, and then says, like in football. I love the wrestling of it. And I like to run around the living room with a ball, act like them, when I’m watching it. I like the big open field. I’d like to run around in it. When the teams winning…I like to feel like I’m winning too.
I say to him, that’s a very good answer, Liam. And then I think,
That was the best answer to anything I’ve ever heard.
